Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong is an accomplished Sports Scientist, Higher Education Leader, and Policy Advisor with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and sports administration. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Sports and Exercise Science and Dean of Students Affairs at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), where his leadership continues to shape the development of sports science education, student engagement, and athlete welfare across Ghana.
A distinguished university sports administrator, Prof. Sarpong previously served as Director of Sports at UEW, where he led major institutional reforms that elevated the university’s standing in collegiate sports. He currently serves as a Member of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2026 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games, and chairs its Technical, Equipment and Facilities Sub-Committee, overseeing the strategic design and coordination of technical operations, equipment standards, and facility upgrades ahead of the Games.
Nationally, he represents universities offering teacher education programmes on the Governing Board of the National Teaching Council (NTC) and plays key advisory and technical roles with both the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA). He also serves as an Elite Football Match Commissioner with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and is an active member of the Ghana Football Coaches Association, reflecting his deep commitment to sports governance and technical excellence.
Prof. Sarpong’s academic and research expertise spans exercise physiology, biomechanics, athlete monitoring, and performance optimization, with a strong focus on integrating sports science into coaching, talent development, and injury prevention. His evidence-based approach has influenced both national policy direction and institutional practice in sports and physical education.
At the continental and international levels, Prof. Sarpong serves as an Executive Member of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance (ICHPER-SD) Africa Region, where he coordinates activities within the West African Zone. He is also a proud member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES-UK), the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), and the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG). Through these affiliations, he advances the global exchange of knowledge, professional standards, and applied research in sports and exercise science.
